Jamche Vijaya Stupa
Jamche Vijaya Stupa is a small yet historically meaningful Buddhist monument located in the Kathmandu Valley. Built to commemorate the victory of the Licchavi king Manadeva in the 5th century, the stupa reflects the deep roots of Buddhism in Nepal. Although modest in size compared with other famous stupas in Kathmandu, it represents an important early example of Buddhist architecture in the valley and symbolizes peace, devotion, and the spread of Buddhist teachings.
Kopan Monastery
Kopan Monastery, perched on a hill north of the city, is one of the most well-known Tibetan Buddhist monasteries in Nepal. Founded in the 1970s by the respected teachers Lama Thubten Yeshe and Lama Zopa Rinpoche, the monastery has become an international center for Buddhist study and meditation. Visitors come from around the world to attend teachings, meditation retreats, and courses on Buddhist philosophy, while also enjoying sweeping views of the Kathmandu Valley from its peaceful grounds.
Boudhanath Stupa
Boudhanath Stupa is one of the largest and most important Buddhist stupas in the world and a central pilgrimage site for Tibetan Buddhists. The massive white dome is crowned with the all-seeing eyes of the Buddha and surrounded by prayer wheels, monasteries, and vibrant shops. Pilgrims and visitors walk clockwise around the stupa, spinning prayer wheels and chanting mantras, creating a deeply spiritual atmosphere. The site is also recognized as part of the Kathmandu Valley UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Pashupatinath Temple
Pashupatinath Temple is the most sacred Hindu temple in Nepal and one of the most important shrines dedicated to the god Shiva in the world. Located along the banks of the Bagmati River, the temple complex is famous for its pagoda-style architecture, ornate wood carvings, and cremation ghats where Hindu funeral rites are performed.
